Maximize Power Conversion Efficiency in DC-DC Power Supplies with Fairchild's Medium Voltage MOSFETs

Fairchild's advanced performance PowerTrench® MOSFET process technology enables higher output power levels without increasing the solution footprint.  PowerTrench technology produces exceptionally low values for Miller charge (QGD), RDS(ON), and QG, and improves the gate-source charge to gate-drain charge (QGS:QGD) ratio to above one.  All of these enhancements result in superior switching performance, avoiding shoot-through and improving thermal efficiencies.  These products are part of a comprehensive portfolio of discrete power semiconductors, enabling high efficiency in computers, communications, power supplies and home entertainment consumer products.

Optimize Performance and Power with Fairchild's Analog Switch

The FSA2457 is a bi-directional, low power, dual double-pole double-throw (DPDT) analog switch.  It contains special circuitry that minimizes current consumption even when the control voltage applied to the SEL pin is lower than the supply voltage (VCC).  This feature is especially valuable in ultra-portable applications, such as cell phones, which allow direct interface with the general purpose I/Os of the baseband processor.  Other applications include switching and connector sharing in portable cell phones, PDAs, digital cameras, printers and portable GPS systems.

Energy Efficiency

Fairchild is a leading global supplier of semiconductor technology that powers electronic products and allows them to become more energy-efficient.

Every year over $7.3B is wasted in motors due to poor driving efficiency.  Moving from non-inverter AC drives to inverter-controlled drives can result in a 20 percent energy savings.  Fairchild offers a comprehensive portfolio of products that increase energy efficiency, simplify design and reduce system cost in motor applications.  For instance, Fairchild's Motion-SPMTM products provide a complete adjustable-speed motor drive control and fully-integrated circuit protection for AC motors found in appliance applications such as washing machines and air conditioners.  Fairchild's Green FPSTM power switches and optically isolated error amplifiers increase power efficiency and system reliability and reduce valuable design time in power supplies for motors.  These are complemented by PFC controllers and PFC-SPMTM products that offer efficient use of energy from the AC power line and decrease the burden on the power grid.
