Protect Circuits from Undesirable Voltage and Current Transients with Fairchild's IntelliMAXTM Slew Rate Controlled Load Switches |
The FPF1007-9 series of IntelliMAXTM advanced load switches has been designed to protect applications with capacitive loads. During turn-on, these loads typically cause transient current spikes and voltage sags – which may cause issues in the end application. The FPF1007-9 family features slew-rate times of 10µs, 80µs and 1ms, providing the designer flexibility in choosing the slew rate that best fits their application. Longer slew rates ensure a slower turn-on time, which results in limiting the in-rush current into the applications’ capacitive circuit elements. As with all of Fairchild’s IntelliMAX switches, these slew-rate controlled load switches provide a protection interface between the application circuitry, battery and other accessories and with their high level of integration they simplify designs, reduce component count and minimize board space – attributes that are critical to mobile and consumer applications.

Increase Efficiency in Microwave Ovens and Induction Heating Applications with Fairchild's Field Stop Trench IGBTs |
This series of 1200V Field Stop Trench IGBTs, the FGA20N120FTD and FGA15N120FTD, provide system designers of induction heating applications with a highly efficient solution. Using both Field Stop structure and avalanche-rugged Trench gate technology, these IGBTs offer optimal tradeoffs between conduction losses and switching losses, which maximize efficiency. Compared to conventional NPT-Trench IGBTs, the FGA20N120FTD offers 25 percent lower conduction losses and eight percent lower switching losses, significantly reducing the system’s operating temperature. By lowering the cooling needs, system reliability is increased and overall system cost is reduced. Reliability is further ensured by a built-in fast-recovery diode (FRD) that is optimized for Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) technology.

Save Space in Power Supplies with Fairchild's Two-Phase, 12V N-MOSFET Half-Bridge Driver
The FAN5110 contains two N-Channel MOSFET drivers in one package. It replaces two single-phase drivers in a multiple-phase PWM design. Each phase is specifically designed to drive both the upper and lower N-Channel power MOSFETs of a synchronous rectified Buck converter at high switching frequencies. The lower drivers are powered externally through the PVCC pin. The PVCC pin is normally connected to VCC, which drives the lower MOSFET’s gates at 12VGS. Connecting the PVCC pin to a voltage lower than VCC lowers the VGS voltage, resulting in much lower driver power dissipation.

Simplify Design and Eliminate External Components with Fairchild's Snubberless Triac Optocouplers
This family of random-phase, snubberless triac optocouplers, the FOD420, FOD4208, FOD4216 and FOD4218, simplify designs by eliminating expensive snubber capacitors. These optocouplers feature a built-in active dv/dt clamp that eliminates the need for snubber capacitors and the RC snubber network that is required for lower dv/dt-rated monolithic triacs. The FOD42xx family’s built-in dv/dt clamp provides superior dv/dt performance and best-in-class noise immunity. High noise immunity optimizes these products for noisy industrial environments with large voltage transients such as AC motor controls, lighting ballasts and solid state relays.

Increase Efficiency in Switch Mode Power Supplies with Fairchild's Green Mode PWM Controller
The SG6859A is a highly integrated PWM controller designed to meet the low standby-power needs of low-power SMPS designs. To minimize standby power consumption, the proprietary green-mode function provides off-time modulation to linearly decrease the switching frequency under light-load conditions. This green-mode function enables the power supply to meet even the strictest power conservation requirements. Its BiCMOS fabrication process enables reducing the start-up current to 9uA, and the operating current to 3mA. To further improve power conservation, a large start-up resistance can be used.
