FAN5608 - Dual-channel LED Driver Supports Up to 12 LEDs plus Inductor-based DC/DC Boost

An adaptive, inductor-based DC/DC boost converter makes the FAN5608 Fairchild's most powerful and versatile serial LED driver to-date. The FAN5608 also gives designers the flexibility of serial-connecting multiple LEDs in two parallel-connected channels. In addition, the FAN5608 features all three brightness controls—digital, analog, and PWM. These controls allow the channel currents to be independently programmed up to 20mA. The actual LED current is customer-selectable.

For the most precise brightness matching, a Fairchild patent-pending control scheme automatically adjusts the drive voltage to the lowest possible level regardless of LED forward voltage mismatches. No external parts are needed for current matching. The FAN5608 is available in both an 8-lead MLP and a 12-lead MLP package.
