Fairchild Semiconductor's Buck Regulator Wins EDN's 19th Annual Innovation Award for Power ICs
San Jose, California – April 15, 2009 – Fairchild Semiconductor (NYSE: FCS), a leading global supplier of high performance products that enable energy efficiency, has won the EDN 19th Annual Innovation Award for their FAN5355 Buck converter in the category of Power ICs: General Converters. The EDN Innovation Awards honor the ground breaking products of a unique group of engineers. The winners were announced in a ceremony on March 31st in San Jose California.

The FAN5355 is an 800mA/1000mA 3MHz Buck converter equipped with an I2C interface for dynamic voltage scaling. It has been designed with a proprietary ultra-fast architecture that consumes very low quiescent current and delivers ultra-fast transient response. In addition, careful optimization of the architecture and drive train provides outstanding efficiency at both light and heavy loads. The 3MHz switching frequency allows the use of small passives such as a 1µH inductor.
