Fairchild Semiconductor's Ultra Low Power FIN324C µSerDes Serializer/Deserializer Receives Best Product Award from Portable Design China
The Award Further Endorses Fairchild’s Commitment to Power Efficiency for Emerging Technologies in China such as 3G (TD-SCDMA)
San Jose, California – April 9, 2008 – Fairchild Semiconductor (NYSE: FCS), a leading global supplier of high performance products that drive energy-efficiency, has received a Best Product Award from the readers of Portable Design China (PDC), a key industry publication, in its Portable Power Management Devices Readers Survey 2008. The award winning ultra low power FIN324C μSerDes™ is an ultra-compact serializer/deserializer designed for parallel interconnects reducing flex cable size, power consumption and electromagnetic interference (EMI) in cellular phones and small display applications.
International and local Chinese brands were eligible for these prestigious industry awards judged across 12 categories. Engineers were invited to vote according to how well products met a number of strict criteria that included: performance; functionality; power consumption; price/performance; reliability; ease-of-design-in; design support; availability of samples and company reliability.
“We’re very pleased PDC’s readers have selected the FIN324C μSerDes for this award. China is a large consumer market for portable electronic products and positive feedback from its portable design engineers endorses our ongoing focus on enhanced functionality and energy efficiency,” said Bob Conrad, Fairchild’s executive vice president, general manager Mobile, Computing, Consumer and Communications Product Group. “We work closely with China’s leading electronic manufacturers, and through understanding the challenges of new platforms, we’re able to develop innovative technologies that meet the very specific needs of the country’s electronics engineers.”
The FIN324C is a 24-bit, 15MHz serializer/deserializer offering one of the industry’s lowest current consumption (~4mA @ 5.44MHz). It also eliminates the need for external timing reference devices and supports dual-displays—helping designers to save battery power, increase design flexibility and reduce component count.
In addition to the FIN324C, Fairchild’s µSerDes products includes a wide selection of devices that are easily adapted to specific portable technologies, including 12-bit and 24-bit versions for optimizing image sensors and LCDs, respectively. The FIN324C utilizes lead-free (Pb-free) terminals and has been characterized for moisture sensitivity in accordance with the Pb-free reflow requirements of the joint IPC/JEDEC standard J-STD-020. All of Fairchild's products are designed to meet the requirements of the European Union's Directive on the restriction of the use of certain substances (RoHS).To learn more contact:
